The History
The resting spot of October at Fair Downs shares the history of Suffolk.
Nestled just to the north of the city’s Main Street, the area has its roots as Tidewater Fair Downs.
It was in this area that locals used to gather to have fun, sample locally grown foods, and
watch harness racers and their horses vie for a blue ribbon. For years, neighbors and friends gathered to
cheer on their favorite horse and jockey and enjoy the company of their neighbors.
